NEW MUSIC NOTATIONS
The musical notations below embrace concepts of chance as pioneered by John Cage and Marcel Duchamp from as early as 1934. They can be read and interpreted freely yet they always include keys that give just enough direction to move the music. In many ways they become art pieces themselves even without any music performed.
Cornelius Cardew ‘Treatise’
Toshi Ichiyanagi ‘Stanzas’
Toshi Ichiyanagi ‘Music for Piano’
Iannis Xenakis ‘Polytope’
John Cage ‘Interludes’
Karlheinz Stockhausen ‘Studie II’
Carsten Nicolai ‘Time-Dot’
